I Am Kalam – Movie Review

‘I am Kalam’ is a heart-warming, thought provoking subject. It is a sincere effort by the makers to uplift the plight of the less privileged children in our high-class society. Off late, two films ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’ and ‘Chillar Party’ was released and both the movies talks about children plight at the backdrop and was highly appreciated by critics and loved by the audience as well. 'I am Kalam' also speaks about poverty, destitute and less-privileged children. It strikes the painful chord of the society.



‘Chotu’ is the universal name given to a boy serving tea in a stall or selling stuffs on roads. But in this movie, ‘Chotu is kalam who cherish the dream to become like our former president of India, APJ Abdul Kalam crossing all the barriers of poverty and making big one day. A child deprived of education in his childhood is the biggest setback in our society.



God’s destitute child Chotu (Harsh Mayar), is bound to work in a small roadside food stall to run his family. Chotu is jovial and he has not regret for such hardship at the time when he has all the right to study and have fun. Chotu is a boy of strong determination. He is adamant to change his future one day. During daylight, he used to work in a stall and in the evening, he study by managing books from somewhere. He aims to get educated and change his destiny.



Chotu works in a stall run by Bhatti (Gulshan Grover). Also works in the stall a hardcore Amitabh Bachchan's fan, Laptan who always act as a barrier in Chotu’s path. One day after listening to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s speech, Chotu was motivated and he changed his name to Kalam. He starts working towards his dream of becoming a big man one day.



He befriends with a local prince Ranvijay Singh (Hussan Saad) who hails from a royal family. Chotu and Ranvijay become the best of buddies. They share books and help each other. Chotu helps Ranvijay in Hindi lessons while Ranvijay helps Chotu in English. Then there starts a journey of hardship, friendship, sacrifice and pursuing dreams.



‘I am Kalam’ is an inspirational film, very clean and a motivating subject. Sanjay Chauhan’s script is very absorbing. Mohana Krishna's cinematography captures Rajasthan beautifully. Prashant Nair's editing is spotless. Nila Madhab Panda's directorial debut is very inspiring.



Speaking about performances, the main protagonist Harsh Mayar sparks as Chotu. Gulshan Grover, Husaan Saad and Beatrice Ordeix chip delivered a commendable performance.



In the nutshell, ‘I am Kalam’ is a great film which audiences will love and cherish for life long.

Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon | Transformers 3 Review

SRK : Don 2 First Look Up In the Bollywood

Double Dhamaal Review – Extreme Hilarity

Double Dhamaal movie Review

Double Dhamaal Comedy Hindi movie 2011 form Bollywood and is sequel to the 2007 film Dhamaal. The project stars most of the actors from the prequel, with new additions including Mallika Sherawat and Kangna Ranaut. It is directed by Indra Kumar and produced by Ashok Thakeria. It is released on June 24, 2011.

The four stand up comedians played by Adi (Arshad Warsi), Roy (Riteish Deshmukh), Manav (Javed Jafferi) and Boman (Ashish Chaudhry) are returns with the Rib tickler in Double Dhamaal. The movie kicks off with a quick rewind on the Dhamaal first part, giving a detail presentation about the roles to the viewers who have not seen Dhamaal and are clueless about the storyline. An interesting point is that Double 2 exactly resumes from where the prequel concludes. There are no much changes in the sequel, the four characters are still in contest to top the craziness level, they are still of no use, they still dream about a strong wealthy life with no hard work. Indra Kumar, director has once again integrated a big-hearted dose of sweet moments in the film. Though Dhamaal was one of his great laughable fooler stuff. The unspoiled comedy in DoubleDhamaal works huge time. The airtight screenplay (Tushar Hiranandani) also takes a part of the merit. Kumar has perfectly improvised the script with a magical comic timing. The whole credit of the film will not be be given alone to the script, the amazing chemistry between the four lead chracters is astounding. Not yet over, unlike the previous one , this one is included with the glam touch with sultry siren Mallika Sherawat and Kangana Ranaut as key part in the film. A big prize goes to the intelligent humor dialogues (Farhad-Sajid). Music in the film is good enough, particulraly Mallik’s ‘Jalebi Bai act’. Aseem Bajaj’s cinematography is top class. Arshad, Riteish, Jaaved and Aashish are oustanding of the comedy planet. Riteish is stands out, Aashish is a complete eye opener. Sanjay Dutt beautifuuly dons his job. Both Mallika and Kangana are fabulous. Over All, Double Dhamaal has got and Extreme hilarity stuff. It is for people who are looking to enjoy light-hearted entertainer with a Rib tickling are called for a treat.

Storyline

The four good-for- nothing jokers from Dhamaal – Roy (Riteish Deshmukh), Manav (Jaaved Jaafery) Adi (Arshad Warsi) and Boman (Ashish Chowdhry) are back again! They are still as stupid and useless as before. Hard work is a strict no no and the only work they have ever done in their lives is to lie down on their backsides and dream about a good life where they have everything without doing anything! And then suddenly they see their old arch enemy – the corrupt Insp Kabir (Sanjay Dutt). But he¹s no longer a cop and instead of chasing crooks, he’s chasing money – driving a Merc and has a posh office and a lavish villa. The four madcaps are green with envy and decide that come what may, by hook or by crook they will share Kabir’s good fortune. And so they blackmail Kabir into making them his business partners. They are in seventh heaven,yippee, all their dreams are coming true. What they don¹t know is that soon their dreams are going to turn into nighmares because Kabir has his own hidden agenda, only shared by his sultry wife Kamini (Mallika Sherawat) and lovely sister Kiya (Kangna Ranaut). And so starts a game of one- up- manship, with both sides having tricks up their sleeves and where sundry characters like bhai turned sadhu – Batabhai (Satish Kaushik) and King of Casinos Johnny Bonzola turn up to make the foursome¹s life miserable. And of course there¹s a helluva lot of money at stake. There’s also lots of twists and turns and a bellyful of laughs. But who will have the last laugh? Canny Kabir or our four loveable jokers?

Cars 2 Pixar’s movie Review – Watchable

Cars 2 is a 2011 American computer-animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios, and it is the sequel to the 2006 film, Cars. The film is directed by John Lasseter, co-directed by Brad Lewis, written by Ben Queen, and produced by Denise Ream.

Pixar film Cars 2 is released today and there is something for the animation fans to cheer about. This new Pixar flick Cars 2 has really brought a lot of people with bad opinions out of the woodwork. The Pixar haters have emerged in a big way.The studio is celebrated its 25th anniversary and doesn’t save the fantastic animation film Cars 2. Cars 2 has no longer dazzling’s story and the traveling to another country and with no hilarious moments made the viewers typically laugh and cry throughout the flick. Mater’s jokes are not great. Cars2 is visually brilliant but it lacks on witty dialogue that adults have expected from the studio. The animation, however, is very fine, particularly in Disney’s 3D version and espescially a shot of an underwater scene at the beginning was special one. Wilson has not much to deliver, Radiator Springs cars has got short play with Hunt possibly executing four or five lines. However, Caine is a new addition to the crew and provides a small output to his role. Mortimer and comedian Eddie Izzard are a fun add. Cars 2 has got a great deal more entertaining than most, but many a Disney Pixar fanatic will be hugely disappointed.Disney Pixar’s Cars firts part was a bad came out, but still much loved and critically acclaimed in its own way, Cars 2′s thrilling is more-than- part 1 but an average children film. Bottom Line: Cars 2 action Falls Just Short of Big Win of Pixar, but watchable.

Adaminte Makan Abu Review – a must watch movie

Adaminte Makan Abu Malayalam movie Review

This malayali flick rised from from the cans and created a huge buzz by winning four national and four Kerala State awards this year and It is now taken theatrical release in India. Director Salim Ahamad beautifully showcases he sorrow and suffering of an old Muslim couple living in Kerala’s Malabar, given up and forgotten by their son in the Dubai and finding it hard earn money to fulfil their dream of going on Haj. It came as a shock when a small film called Aadaminte Makan Abu won several awards at the national and state levels. Actor Salim Kumar, who is mostly known for his comic roles, winning the national and the state awards for best actor was “truly unbelievable”. The cinematographer is Madhu Ambat dons a fabulous job and the music is scored by by Isaac Thomas Kottukappilly and Ramesh Narayan is just awesome.It is a authentic script and the character was well penned. “Adaminte Makan Abu” story fails to the struck the right chord that could have lifted it two higher, nevertheless – a must watch movie.

Storyline

Adaminte Makan Abu story spins around an old couple who dream of going for Mecca to perform the holy Hajj. The lead role played by Abu (Salim Kumar) earns money for living by selling athar (perfume) and Quran copie. Zareena Wahab the famous and highly talented actress plays the role of Abu’s wife. This muslim couple husband and wife have only one desire and a dream of going for Hajj. Zareena brings up cattles and hens and tries pretty hard to make money out of it so that the two can fulfil their only dream. But, yep they have blessed with a son long back who enjoys his life in Dubai and but not unable to his partents in anyway. Abu comes up with a plan to cut off a big tree standing in front of his house but after cutting it does he realise that the tree cannot produce any money as it is no good quality to be sold. Where he thought that the money produced through the tree may help for their trip. Many other folks that including travel agencies are set to help the couple by lending them the needed money but Abu is not ready to perform the Hajj using borrowed money. As the end result when Abu got his mind clicked that he will unable to fulfil his dream, he starts to think about a big sin that he did long back. The sin was the slashing the huge tree upon which many people’s lives were dependent. As the tree was put down, many folks in the society would have died. Abu starts feeling that this could be the only reason why he is unable to go for Hajj. This flick also deals with some environmental issues. The movie unfolds its plot through Abu’s travails as he goes about collecting money for his and his wife’s pilgrimage.

Non-stop laughathons are considered safe bet at the box-office. Take a wacky script, pack gag after gag, cast names with good comic timing... well, a leave-your-brains-at-home entertainer is ready to be served. Director Chandrakant Singh does just that.

BIN BULAYE BARAATI follows the footsteps of successful masala movies, which defy rationale and logic. The sole motive/intention is to entertain. Though the film may not boast of a novel plot and you may even complain that the screenplay tilts towards ridiculous and absurd, but the fact is that the entertainment quotient keeps you hooked at most times. Of course, BIN BULAYE BARAATI is strictly for those who love masala films, the 'single screen audience' in trade parlance.

Durjan Singh [Gulshan Grover] is a dangerous dacoit from Chambal. He comes to the city with the theft he has accumulated [diamonds and jewels]. He meets a don, Gajraj [Mukesh Tiwari] and his right-hand Ranjeet [Hemant Pandey], tells them to sell the jewelry, take their 10% and give the balance money back to him.

Meanwhile, AD [Aftab Shivdasani], who is being chased by police, escapes in Gajraj's vehicle. AD is dating police inspector PP's [Om Puri] niece Shreya [Priyanka Kothari]. Coincidentally, Murari [Rajpal Yadav], Hazari [Sanjay Mishra] and Chetta Singh [Vijay Raaz], who are on the run, jump in the same van. The cops are on the lookout of all four for different reasons.

They reach the village which is terrorized by Durjan Singh. The villagers think the cops have arrived, since they are dressed in uniforms, so that they can save them from the clutches of dacoits.

BIN BULAYE BARAATI rests on a flimsy plot and even the screenplay is plain ridiculous. But it's a film for a specific target audience and that segment of moviegoers might enjoy the thrills, humor and of course, the songs, especially 'Shaalu' [Mallika Sherawat].

Director Chandrakant Singh needs to concentrate on a sound script, if he intends to make similar genre movies. Anand Raaj Anand's music caters to the masses, in fact is in sync with the genre of the film.

Aftab Shivdasani is strictly okay. Priyanka Kothari is passable. Amongst supporting actors, Gulshan Grover, Johny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari, Vijay Raaz and Hemant Pandey are seasoned players all and hence get it right. Shakti Kapoor does well. The scenes between Om Puri, Rati Agnihotri and Neeraj Vora are funny.

On the whole, BIN BULAYE BARAATI is for the single screen audience/hardcore masala film fans!

Always Kabhi Kabhi: Movie Review

In times when the nation is debating over eminence of educational institutions, Roshan Abbas' film makes the debate much simpler. " MIT aur IIT mein sirf ek alphabet ka farak hain ", self-assesses the college principal in this film. So is this film about academic evaluation? Not really! Is it about the education system? Not exactly! Is it a campus love story? Not completely! Is it about student problems and parental pressure? Kind of! Always Kabhi Kabhi remains as indecisive and inconsistent as its title and is a muddle of multiple college concerns.

Set in such fancy convent campus where girl's skirts end much above their knees and Romeo and Juliet continues to be the most important chapter in classrooms, Always Kabhi Kabhi is an Archie type... oops... archetypal campus caper with the usual suspect supporting cast of Satish Shah, Lilette Dubey, Navneet Nishan.... (Oh how did they miss Archana Puran Singh!)

Taking her daughter's name a little too literally, Aishwarya's (Giselle Monteiro) mother wants her to be Miss India. Tariq (Satyajeet Dubey) is the idealistic intellectual whose father gives him no other option but MIT for further studies. Nandini (Zoa Morani) is the tomboy whose parents are so super-rich that, as per Bollywood norms, they are supposed to have no time for their daughter. And Sameer Khanna (Ali Fazal) is blackmailed by cops when he lands himself in some drug dilemma.

Adapted from his 1999 play ' Graffiti ', Roshan Abbas' Always Kabhi Kabhi comes in a little too late in the day, addressing issues which have recently been dealt with in Bollywood to better outcome. The problem with the film is that there is hardly any problem till the interval by when the over-enthusiastic students only believe in song, dance and drama. And post interval there are so many problems with the students that the director doesn't know how to deal with them. So he conveniently puts the entire blame on the parent community (the latest Bollywood trend) for having over-ambitious expectations from their kids. So much so that it seems like an antidote to Baghban where the offspring were unanimously blamed!

Rehearsals for a Romeo-Juliet drama runs parallel to the proceedings to traditionally culminate in an inter-college competition in the climax, as a tribute to the bard. But all hell breaks loose in the climax when the college troupe's salutation to Shakespeare comes in the form of a lock-n-pop item number. What a ' Faltu ' attempt! Clearly the film lacks the sensitivity of 3 Idiots while highlighting issues like generation gap and peer-pressure.

There is hardly any graph to the narrative. Also the chemistry between couples is conspicuously absent. In fact Zoa Morani looks palpably elder to the childish Satyajeet Dubey. Dubey's voice is irritatingly amateurish and Giselle's badly-dubbed voice sounds fake and out-of-sync. There's also the girl (Preetika Chawla) whom once Shahrukh Bola Khoobsurat Hai Tu – but with pretty much nothing to do. So actors are reduced to extras and cola jingles are played as full-blown songs in the name of in-film branding.

From the cast, Ali Fazal (last seen in 3 Idiots as Joy Lobo) is the only saving grace. He has strong screen presence and puts up a confident act but is marred by a weak script. Giselle Monteiro lacks screen presence, acting abilities, dialogue delivery and perhaps has potential restricted to cameos, like in Love Aaj Kal . Zoa Morani scores in comparison. She reminds of TV actress Kavita Kaushik, both, in terms of her looks and tomboyish performance. Satyajeet Dubey can't get over his chocolate boy image.

Too much harm has been done by the time Shah Rukh Khan makes a special appearance in the end credits. Next time he should make an effort to check the script, to start with.

Bin Bulaye Baraati is a comic story. Bride Flight (2011) Review

At the time of its production and release, Bride Flight reportedly checked in as one of the most lavish and expensive Dutch-language features ever made. The title of this epic tale refers, quite literally, to a period airplane flight transporting new brides from Holland to New Zealand, where they plan to meet their intendeds.

Karina Smulders, Elise Schaap, Anna Drijver star, respectively, as quiet and backward yet sensual farm girl Ada; über-content homemaker-to-be Marjorie; and highly vocal, self-confident, Jewish fashion designer Esther. As the tale opens, it is the mid-1950s; the three women share the same flight, and instantly forge a fast friendship, thanks in no small part to their shared amorous advances from Frank (Waldemar Torenstra), a cowboy-cum-adventurer also on the plane.

Upon arrival, Frank and Ada fall deeply in love, but Ada's marriage to Micha Hulshof, a devout Christian who lives with her in a converted World War II bunker, severely complicates this. Meanwhile, Esther and Marjorie encounter their own problems; one winds up pregnant by an unknown progenitor, while the other discovers her own infertility.

After following these stories for a time, the tale flashes forward to the present day, where the women reencounter one another at the funeral of Frank (played in middle age by Rutger Hauer). Problems arise when Esther witnesses Marjorie (Petra Laseur) accompanying her son Bob (Marc Klein Essink) - thus underscoring the film's thematic meditation on the unshakable connection between present and past.

Shocking: Urvashi Sharma robbed by her own driver!

The actress reacts after culprit who allegedly stole from her, is caught. She recounts the turn of events...

Actress Urvashi Sharma had her driver Sanjay Kumar Bhagat arrested on May 27 on charges of theft. She accused the young man who has worked for her five years, of stealing her valuables.


Says Sharma, "It began last year when I lost an expensive diamond ring. At the time, I though I had misplaced it. A few months later, I lost my phone. Sanjay goes with me everywhere, so I asked him.

He denied knowing anything about it. I recently moved house and have realised that my digital camera is missing. He feigned ignorance yet again. Shortly after, he went to Nepal to get married."


Suspicions confirmed

That's when her suspicion grew. "I recalled that he wanted me to lend my camera to him when he was going to Nepal. I refused because it was an expensive piece.

I also remembered that he had wanted my phone.

My suspicions were confirmed when my maid told me that she had seen my missing phone with him and that he had also told her about a diamond ring he bought for his wife.

The description was very similar to my ring. That's when I was sure he had been stealing my stuff."

The actress summoned him back to Mumbai and confronted him. "I told him I'd hand him over to the police if he didn't own up. He finally admitted to the theft while in police custody."

It was the breach of trust that affected Urvashi more than anything else. "I gave him my car to use as a taxi to make extra bucks. I helped him when his dad was unwell and this is what I got in return.

He also told my bodyguard behind my back that he knows a lot of my secrets and can make a lot of money by giving it out to media," she reveals.

Samad Sheikh, senior inspector, Bandra Police Station, confirms, "We arrested him. He was produced before the court today and he admitted to his crime. We have also recovered Urvashi's phone."
